Dill & Chill
While we had some downtime at Sony Camera Camp, me and a couple other food creators just hung out at the pool bar and I figured I'd get behind the bar and make a drink. The dill stole the show here, they just happened to be growing some fresh in the herb garden at @konakai last month and figured I'd put it to good use along with some of the other in
Charro Negro
The Charro Negro is the official #DrinkofSummer2024
Stir with a spoon. Dont @ me.
Chocolate Orange Carajillo
Don’t drink an espresso martini, drink this instead 🍊☕️🍫
We’re here in Palm Desert, CA with my friends at almaveto create a non-alcoholic riff on a Carajillo. This recipe utilizes their Ambar, which is their agave-based spiritless ‘blue agave spirit’. Similar to tequila, #Almave is made from the same blue agave but skips the fermentation process where the liquid becomes alcohol. In addition to the notes of chocolate and orange, Almave adds the rich agave flavors that pair perfectly with this cocktail. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Cheers y’all.
Tequila Desert Bird
All the Jungle Bird vibes… in the Desert…
We're in Palm Desert, California. Everyone knows how much I love a Jungle Bird, but I wanted to create a version fit for the desert, which of course involves using #Tequila1940Blanco. This recipe combines two techniques, a stir and a shake. The latter to product a salted pineapple tiki foam that perfectly compliments the Rosita-like cocktail underneath. It's light, tropical and absolutely delicious for any occasion but just so fitting in this desert heat. Let me know what y'all think! Pro-tip: Fresh pineapple juice produces the frothiest results, if you're using canned pineapple juice, add agave nectar instead of orgeat to get a creamier foam. Cheers y'all!
Salted Chocolate Oaxacan Old Fashioned
Ever paired salted dark chocolate with an ańejo? 🤯
We’re here in Palm Desert and together with my friends at tresgeneracionestequila, I’ve created a take on a modern classic in the Oaxacan Old Fashioned by adding elements of dark chocolate
and sea salt. #TresGeneraciones Añejo stands well on its own but since we’re making an Old Fashioned here, I figured chocolate would pair well with the rich toasted oak notes in the ańejo as well. Adding just that pinch of salt also accentuates the flavors of chocolate + citrus and brings out more of the roasted agave with each sip. If you’re looking for an Old Fashioned recipe for the summer, this might just be your new go-to.
Cheers y’all.
Nice and Toasty
Mmm… nice and toasty.
Fall and cool weather is just around the corner to create the perfect stirred tequila recipe just for the occasion. Check it out below, cheers y’all.
Tequila Clover Club
Super excited to team up with the incredible @holycityhandcraft to film an amazing video at our latest creative house retreat! Check out Miguel working his magic to create this COCKTAIL 🍹 and yall know I am obsessed with bitters art! @littlelanemedia shot this video at the EPIC @coastlinecreatives cocktail house in Palm Desert 🏜️
Paloma
Today we’re making classic Palomas for #WorldPalomaDay
Everyone’s out here trying to complicate a Paloma when it couldn’t be simpler. If you can make a Batanga, you can make a Paloma. The addition of salt with the slight bitterness of the grapefruit brings out more of the sweet citrus notes of the grapefruit and rounds this cocktail. Combined with a blanco tequila (I used tequilaocho ), this is one of the most simple cocktails you can make, especially for this #MDW.
Charred Orange Ranch Water
I’m over here swiping ingredients from other creators 😬
Since I wrapped earlier this morning I figured I’d make an easy ranch water sourced from one of their ingredients and of course Chantelle (@she_thebartender) was generous enough (she’s from Utah - makes total sense) to lend me her charred orange from her Cinnamon Charred Orange Margarita (coming soon!). In the meantime, check out this easy Ranch Water recipe for your next pool party.
Cheers y’all.
The Black Hole
I’ll be traveling to Jalisco, Mexico to visit the renowned Patròn Hacienda and Distillery tomorrow!
.
I hope you follow along as I tour the grounds, distillery and show you how this tequila is literally brought from farm to table. To top it all off, I’ll be there to show y’all who is crowned the winner of this year’s #MOTY!
.
Anyways, while you’re waiting for all of that action, feel free to make a recipe I’ve been working on using Patròn’s Extra Anejo Tequila and let me know what you think!
The Countdown
Putting my #Bottesi ice mallet and Lewis bag from my friends at queencitycocktails to good use on this fine Tuesday night and playing around with some potential cocktail recipes.
Chocolate Clover Club
Well, it wouldn’t be a Valentine’s Day cocktail if it wasn’t pink, right?
This cocktail makes 2 servings for the occasion. OH, and if you like these glasses or are just in need of some new bar or glassware, head over to the link in my bio or viski.com and use code ‘HOLYCITY15’ FOR 15% off your purchase!
Cheers y’all.
Tommy’s Margarita
On this #WorldCocktailDay - let’s make the easiest Margarita you’ll ever make.
Rosita
Alright you heard the man.
If you’re not familiar, the Rosita is a Gaz modern classic in the same family as the Negroni. It’s lighter and more delicate, using tequila as the base spirit. If you’re a fan of Negronis or the bitter sweet flavor profile, you’re going to love this one.
Cheers y’all.
Charreada
¡Happy #CincoDeMayo, mis amigos!
.
I’m happy to bring you one of the most unique recipes from the Copper Bar the @patron Hacienda last week. We liked it so much, both @highproofpreacher and I posted about it without even coordinating haha Thanks to our dude @gingerbartender for providing the recipe!
.
A little background: The Charreada is a rodeo-like tradition dating back to the arrival of Spanish horsemanship to Mexico in the 16th century. Once a competition between Haciendas, it is now performed by teams of professional charros and is an important touchstone of Mexican culture. So there’s your fun fact for the day - now get out there and enjoy this day respectfully and responsibly, salud!
Tahonarita
Just because #CincoDeMayo is over doesn't mean we're done with Tequila cocktails.
.
If you're wondering about the "glassware" - its from the folks at @tossware, a stylish, 100% recyclable and BPA-free alternative to using those traditional plastic containers. I can see myself using this for cocktails at the beach or pool this summer and as a bonus, they're 100% sustainable as well. This is #notanad - but after trying the product a couple times, I thought it would be a great product to share with y'all. Fun fact: they are NOT dishwasher safe... as my wife and I recently found out :D
Venetian Paloma
You asked for more Paloma riffs, I gotchu!
This one subs the traditional salt rim with olive brine and it works SO well with the grapefruit in this recipe. Saline and aperitivos rend to accentuate the citrus notes and in this case, it brings out some of the grapefruit in Salers. Hope yall enjoy this one, it’d be a good one to batch.
Ahumado Old Fashioned
Give me an Old Fashioned, but make it with a smoky tequila 🥃
I’m excited to introduce y’all to the newest offering from - Patrón Ahumado - and make a classic Old Fashioned with it. #patronahumado is made in small batches using a low and slow roasting technique of the piñas underground with mesquite for at least seven days. Agave is then crushed using the unique 100% tahona wheel distillation process. The reposado tastes sweet, smoky, and oaky with notes of black pepper and hints of vanilla and caramel — it takes a classic Old Fashioned to a new level but can also just be enjoyed neat or on the rocks. If you’re a fan of smoked spirits, you need to get your hands on this bottle ASAP.
Cheers y’all.
