How many ways can we make a Martini for #NationalCocktailDay 🍸

WEEKLY COCKTAIL ROUND-UP | MARTINIS!

I honestly can’t pick a favorite out of the bunch so y’all will just have to try them out for yourselves and let me know. Drop a line below and tell me what you want to see in the next round up, cheers y’all.

Oh the weather outside is… weather? Wait, how does it go?

I know we just did a classic martini but when it comes to martini variations, this one is my absolute favorite. This recipe is simple, elegant and perfect after a long day. Enjoy this one next to the fire and bundle up with a Christmas movie.

ingredients:

  • 2½ oz | 75 ml Gin

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Dry Vermouth

  • 3 Cocktail Onions

  • Lemon Oil (discard twist)

instructions:

Combine Gin and dry vermouth in a mixing glass with ice. Stir, strain and pour the cocktail into a chilled coupe and garnish with three (or more) cocktail onions and express oil from a lemon peel (discard peel). Serve and enjoy.

MSG gets a bad rap, but don’t let it scare you from making this 🍸

MSG or Mono-sodium Glutamate has been widely used in cooking for centuries, but did you know it can be naturally derived as well? This compound is found in every day food such as mushrooms, tomatoes, meat and many other vegetables. There’s nothing scary or dangerous about this ingredient, just like anything else… when used in moderation. MSG is important in cooking since it provides that ‘5th’ flavor profile - UMAMI.

“What does umami taste like?” - you (probably)
Umami is the savory or meaty taste of foods. It comes from three compounds that are naturally found in plants and meat: glutamate, inosinate, and guanylate.

ingredients:

  • 2½ oz | 75 ml Parsnip Gin

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Shaoxing Wine

  • ½ oz | 15 ml MSG Olive Brine

  • 3 Dashes Orange Bitters

  • 1 Caper Berry(Garnish)

instructions:

Combine all ingredients except garnish in a shaking tin with ice. Shake, strain and pour the cocktail into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a caper berry, serve and enjoy!

A longer take on a classic Martini. Built for warmer days, served cold, and finished with tonic for a lighter profile. Straightforward and easy to drink.

ingredients:

  • 1½ oz | 45 ml Gin

  • ¾ oz | 22.5 ml Vermouth

  • ¾ oz | 22.5 ml Manzanilla Sherry

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Olive Brine

  • Tonic Water

  • Olive (garnish)

  • Lemon Twist (garnish)

    inSTRUCTIONS:

Stir ingredients and add to a highball glass with large cubes. Top with tonic. Garnish with Olive and Lemon.

A standard build that keeps things direct. Cold, briny, and shaken for a lighter texture. Works as a straightforward serve when you want something simple and structured.

ingredients:

  • 2 oz | 60 ml Vodka

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Dry Vermouth

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Olive Brine

  • Olives (garnish)

instructions:

Combine all ingredients except garnish in a shaking tin with ice. Shake, strain and pour the cocktail into a chilled coupe or martini glass. Garnish with olives, serve and enjoy!

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming… so let’s make a splash, shall we?

ingredients:

  • 2½ oz | 75 ml Gin

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Dry Vermouth

  • 2-3 Dashes Orange Bitters

  • 1 Barspoon Olive Brine

  • 1 Olive (Garnish)

inSTRUCTIONS:

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir, strain and pour the cocktail into a chilled coupe. Garnish with olive(s) (optional).

I’m convinced this is the martini of the summer 🍅🍸

This is long overdue, but I finally had to try the Tomato Martini (aka Tomato-Tini aka Tomato-tini) created by my friend @drinksbyevie. If you’re a fan of dirty (read: filthy) savory martinis then this one is for you. I added just a slight kiss of MSG to this one just to highlight a bit of the natural MSG in tomatoes and I thought it worked out beautifully.

Have you made this recipe yet?

ingredients:

  • 2½ oz | 75 ml Gin

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Dry Vermouth (by Evie)

  • 1 Barspoon Champagne Vinegar

  • 1 Barspoon Lemon Juice

  • 1 Pinch Sea Salt

  • 1 Pinch MSG (Optional)

  • Garnish with Black Pepper, Olive Oil, Cherry Tomato, and Basil.

inSTRUCTIONS:

Add all ingredients except garnishes to a shaking tin and muddle. Add ice, then shake. Double strain into a chilled coupe or nick and Norah glass. Garnish with tomato, basil, olive oil and pepper

A variation on the Dirty Martini with added texture and depth from olive oil and bay. Still direct and briny, with a slightly fuller mouthfeel. Best served cold.

ingredients:

  • 2 oz | 60 ml Finlandia Vodka (Bay/Olive Oil Washed)

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Dry Vermouth

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Olive Brine

  • 1 Olive + Bay Leaf (Garnish)

inSTRUCTIONS:

Combine all ingredients except garnish in a shaking tin with ice. Shake, strain and pour the cocktail into your vessel of choice. Garnish with olive, bay leaf and a couple drops of EVOO, serve and enjoy!
