ingredients:
2 oz | 60 ml Bourbon
1 oz | 30 ml Amaro
3 Dashes Angostura Bitters
1 Cherry
insTRUCTIONS:
Combine bourbon, amaro and bitters in a mixing glass with ice. Stir, strain and pour the cocktail in a chilled coupe and garnish with a cherry. Serve and enjoy!
Meet the Vieux Carré’s American Cousin, La Lousiane.
Here’s another stirred cocktail with roots in Louisiana. This recipe first appeared in 1937 and was the house cocktail at the historic New Orleans restaurant of the same name. It’s a rye-forward cousin to the Vieux Carré and still maintains the delicate balance despite the addition of rye and absinthe.
This is one you’ve got to try, cheers y’all.
ingredients:
2 oz | 60 ml Rye Whiskey
¾ oz | 22.5 ml Sweet Vermouth
¼ oz | 7.5 ml Benedictine
3 Dashes Peychaud’s bitters
Flamed Absinthe Rinse
3 Maraschino cherries (Garnish)
ingredients:
Stir and strain into a chilled absinthe rinsed glass. Garnish with lemon twist.
A stirred, spirit-forward build with smoke and bitterness. Scotch and Cynar keep it structured, with a light touch of sweetness and salt to round it out. Served cold.

¼ oz | 7.5 ml Demerara Simple
1 pinch Smoked Sea Salt

In a mixing glass, add ice and all ingredients except the the orange peel. Stir for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with an expressed orange peel (or rose). Cheers!
We found the perfect cocktail to kick off the weekend.
Charleston-based photographer and mixologist Miguel Buencamino of Holy City Handcraft whipped up a Jumbo Manhattan cocktail, complete with a giant “cherry,“ at the @gardenandgun offices.
The recipe below provides 20-25 servings of this classic cocktail and can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge or freezer. Cheers and happy Friday! 🥃

ingredients:
2 Liters Bourbon
1 Liter Sweet Vermouth
30-40 Dashes Angostura Nitters
Orange zest (garnish) per cocktail
Maraschino Cherry (garnish) per cocktail
instructions:
To build:
Combine all ingredients except garnish in a mixing glass with ice. Stir and chill and store in a one-liter container. Will keep in the fridge or freezer for 2-3 months.
To serve:
Stir over ice and strain and pour the cocktail into a chilled coupe. Express zest from an orange peel and add a maraschino cherry (optional) to each cocktail. Serve and enjoy!

Its a great balance of sweet, herbal and spicy. The Old Overholt Rye plays nicely with the Carpano Antica and Yellow Chartreuse to create a sturdy, complex cocktail.
