Monina
🥃🔥 Looking for another why to smoke cocktails? Look no further than The Char Board from Whiskeywood. They recently sent this over to me to try out and I’m blown away at its portability, effectiveness and especially that depth of smokey flavor it gives to your cocktail. The three ‘flavors’ of wood include: ‘Apple Orchard’, ‘Peanut Butter and Chocolate’ and my favorite so far, ‘Grandma’s Cookies’ — that being said, this cocktail is named after my grandmother, Mona. I think you can guess which smoke stick I picked.
ingredients:
1½ oz | 45 ml Rye Whiskey
¼ oz | 7.5 ml Amaro
½ oz | 15 ml Apple Jack
¼ oz | 7.5 ml Spiced Panela Syrup
4 Drops Jasmine Bitters
1 Small Pinch of salt
Orange Twist Garnish
instructions:
Using The Char Board, smoke a rocks glass using ‘Grandmother’s Cookies’ - set aside. Combine whiskey, amaro, apple jack, syrup, salt and bitters in a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 20 seconds. Turn the rocks glass and strain/pour cocktail into the glass. Add large clear ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist. Serve and enjoy.

Style is personal. So why should your cocktail try to copy somebody else’s?
I teamed up with my friends at Ralph Lauren Fragrances to build a cocktail around their Ralph’s Club New York Parfum, and the fragrance did most of the talking. Black currant, cognac, oud wood. That’s basically a drink order.
So we built a Manhattan style sipper with cognac as the base, swapped the sweet vermouth for creme de cassis and a touch of dry vermouth, added a barspoon of absinthe and a few dashes of bitters, then finished it with an expressed lemon twist for brightness. Given the NY roots on this bottle, I’m calling it The State of Mind.
Cheers, y’all!
