Papa Doble Crush
I dare you to make a better Daiquiri this summer #ad
Together with my friends at @luxardousa, we’re going to make a rendition of the classic Hemingway Daiquiri called the Papa Doble Crush, based on a a variant called the Papa Doble - also invented in Havana! It’s the stronger (double) version of the classic Hemingway Daiquiri but blended instead of shaken. While the daiquiri is known for the rum, I feel like the Hemingway has always used Luxarado Maraschino Liqueur as the backbone, and this recipe doubles that too while keeping it balanced.
The legend goes, that Hemingway tried the bar’s standard frozen daiquiri and said, “That's good but I prefer it without sugar and with double rum”
We're crushing ice pretty fine on this one to keep it icy cold and give it that slush texture that makes you understand frozen daiquiris should be the official cocktail of the summer.
Cheers, y'all!
Fun fact: did you know it’s not just cherries that go into maraschino liqueur? They also include the leaves, branches, pits, stems and every part of the Marasca cherry tree to create the iconic liqueur used in this cocktail
Cacao + Ghee- Washed Oaxaca Old Fashioned
#ad21+ Listen, if you're planning on giving someone a bottle of bourbon this season, you need to save this recipe.
Together with my friends at @BasilHayden, we're going to make a festive bourbon cocktail called Season's Greetings, which would make for perfect recipe to go along with your gift. The spice notes in the amaro and the pear liqueur in this cocktail play perfectly with the baking spice notes in #BasilHayden and I guarantee you'll be making this one all holiday season.
Comment "PEAR" and I'll send you this recipe in the form of a recipe card that you can save, print out to include with your gift or send to a friend. Whether you're gifting or shopping bourbon this season, make sure to keep a look out for Basil Hayden -- its #TheOneWithTheBelt #BasilHaydenPartner
Cheers y'all.
Sleepytime Manhattan
A nightcap that won't let you use lose any sleep? Sign me up.
Together with my friends at @littlesaintsco, I've developed an autumn-forward Manhattan. Here's the thing, this is a no-abv alternative made with their St. Oak NA spirit. Combined with an allspice tea made with cinnamon, cloves, and allspice - it's almost a guarantee that you're going to want to make over and over again this season.
If you havent had St. Oak before, it's made with reishi and lion's mane mushroom which has a calming effect on the body. As far as flavor, it's got notes of oak, vanilla, caramel and a little bit of spice to give it that kick similar to bourbon. I'm honestly really impressed with this spirit and if you're looking for a low or no-abv alternative to whiskey, I can highly recommend trying this one out. And trust me, I don't give out NA recommendations lightly.
Cheers y'all.
Wisconsin Old Fashioned (Take 2)
Ok, apparently I’ve been making this the wrong way? 😒
Wisconsin Old Fashioned… I don’t think I know of any other classic cocktail thats so heavily disputed by an entire region. I’ve been drinking old fashioned’s for a while now and always have preferred them… the old fashioned way (ps. This is how the drink got its name - spirit, bitters, sugar + water). But the last time I made the Wisconsin OF, Wisconsinites slid into the comments section asking telling me I still did it wrong. In their defense, apparently it’s made with brandy and not bourbon (which was apparently the case for the OG old fashioned).
So lets do this the right way, feel free to throw the hate down below, I’m bracing for impact :)
Cheers y’all.
“As soon as the holiday theme was mentioned, I knew I had to make an old fashioned riff of my favorite holiday side, sweet potato casserole. I chose Old Forester 1910 because the heavy char on the cask used for secondary aging imparts the perfect flavor profile for this riff: sweet caramel and toffee notes, smokey vanilla that’s reminiscent of toasted marshmallow, and well integrated baking spices.”
The Aviation
At over 100 years old, the classic Aviation Cocktail is something any home bartender should have in their repertoire. Its sexy, sophisticated and elegant… but don’t let it fool you, it’ll kick your a** and take names.
