Wisconsin Old Fashioned (Take 2)
Ok, apparently I’ve been making this the wrong way? 😒
Wisconsin Old Fashioned… I don’t think I know of any other classic cocktail thats so heavily disputed by an entire region. I’ve been drinking old fashioned’s for a while now and always have preferred them… the old fashioned way (ps. This is how the drink got its name - spirit, bitters, sugar + water). But the last time I made the Wisconsin OF, Wisconsinites slid into the comments section asking telling me I still did it wrong. In their defense, apparently it’s made with brandy and not bourbon (which was apparently the case for the OG old fashioned).
So lets do this the right way, feel free to throw the hate down below, I’m bracing for impact :)
Cheers y’all.
“As soon as the holiday theme was mentioned, I knew I had to make an old fashioned riff of my favorite holiday side, sweet potato casserole. I chose Old Forester 1910 because the heavy char on the cask used for secondary aging imparts the perfect flavor profile for this riff: sweet caramel and toffee notes, smokey vanilla that’s reminiscent of toasted marshmallow, and well integrated baking spices.”
Ghost of Christmas Future
This is for all you Scrooges out there 🎩🎁
“...a solemn Phantom, draped and hooded, coming, like a mist along the ground, towards him.” 💀
I got this tiki mug from my friends over deathandcompany x tikilandtrading and immediately thought, it was so ON-BRAND for Death & Co. but also so fitting to make make a winter tiki cocktail inspired by The Christmas Carol… so here we are…
Eggnog Cream Float
Eggnog cocktails don’t have to be boring y’all, especially not with a salted hazelnut cold foam 😳
Together with my friends at @maolamilk, we made a cocktail that you can enjoy to ease into the holiday season. The secret is in the salted hazelnut cold foam made with #MaolaMilk’s rich eggnog combined with hazelnut liqueur and sea salt. This is whipped and then integrated into the base cocktail which has herbal sweet notes from the amaro and Angostura then combined with crème de cacao to give you a rich, yet balanced cocktail.
Apple Jack the Reaper
Apple season is here, you’re going to want to make this for your upcoming halloween party - Grim Reaper mug optional…
PS. I got this tiki mug from my friends over deathandcompany x tikilandtrading and immediately thought, it was so ON-BRAND for Death & Co.
The Egg Cream Fizz
I’ve put together a twist on a traditional Egg Cream. Never heard of one? Well, it it originated among Eastern European Jewish immigrants in New York City. It usually consists of cream, chocolate syrup and seltzer/soda water. Thats right… it contains NO EGGS... until now. I’ve combined this classic with a similar technique to a Ramos gin fizz and the results were pretty epic. See the recipe below.
Cannonborough in D
🥃 Merry Christmas Eve, folks! For our Annual Christmas Party this year, Mick and I came up with the recipe below which was then kegged; needless to say, it was delicious and absolutely demolished by our guests. Hope you enjoy it!
Scotman Sidecar
Did you hear? Its #WorldCocktailDay!
.
I had an opportunity to receive a bottle of a unique California Brandy by jeffreymbell (pdthongkong)and thomaspastuszak (thenomadhotel) - two very well known names in the cocktail/wine/spirits industry. Bertoux Brandy (bertouxbrandy) is meant to be as sippable as it is perfect for any cocktail - So I figured, why not try a riff on a classic Brandy cocktail - The Sidecar!
Peach Old Fashioned
Peaches 🍑+ Brandy 🥃, name a better combo…
Want to know what makes this one in particular so special?
St-Rémy Signature is the only French brandy that features a double aging process first in charred new oak casks, then in traditional, seasoned brandy oak casks to bring layers of smooth and oaky flavor to the forefront. The two-cask maturation imparts intense spiced notes and verve as well as balance and complexity, which makes for a versatile yet easy-to-drink flavor profile.
You’re going to want to make this one.
Peaches & Dreams
#HandcraftAfterDark | Episode 2: Peaches & Dreams (+Truffle!)
As promised, here’s the second episode of Handcraft After Dark. In this series, I’ll feature some of my favorite night caps and maybe even some recipes that YOU recommend. Here’s the catch: they always have to be stirred and must contain 4 or less ingredients (not including the garnish).
Just a reminder that this video series will be no-frills, quick, easy, and straightforward recipes that you can make in less than 5 minutes. You in? Have a favorite recipe that fits the description above? Let me know in the comments section.
Cheers and goodnight.
Islay Have Another
Did someone say #happyfallyall?
In partnership with @laphroaig - Here's a simple recipe for those of you looking for a fall cocktail that's perfect for any occasion. It brings the traditional fall spices and combines them with a mix of a caramel apple and banana bread. Laphroaig is the star of the show here, the flavors pair perfectly with the smoky, peaty flavor of this famous Islay Scotch whisky
The Colpetto
I may have missed the train on #NationalCoffeeDay but it was a blast to be able to create this Colpetto with my friends Amaro Montenegro! Just build it in the glass, easy peasy!
