Wednesday not Tuesday
Wellâp, if yâall have been following along, you know that two of my favorite things are a stiff Boulevardier and coming up with twists on a classic. This one is no different, the herbal notes of Chartreuse with the addition of grapefruit bitters takes the place of Campari in a funky yet delicious variation. Give it a shot.
Blood Orange G&T
Whatâs better than a mimosa on Saturday morning? A bitter orange gin and tonic with a side of college football.
Coconut Negroni Syrup
Oh, yâall thought I was done with that Negroni-aged coconut? đĽĽ
Well in an effort to reduce waste and get every single bit of flavor out of that rum-Negroni aged coconut, I decided to make a syrup out of it. Itâs definitely more coconut forward but still has hints of that Jamaican rum and Campari - but the question is⌠what should I make out of it?? Drop your suggestions below and Iâll make it this week!
Cheers yâall.
The Ambrose
Its no secret I love experimenting with new ingredients to create unique and original cocktails. I feel as though with the resurgence of the craft cocktail scene, cocktail syrups have been all the rage lately. I met Max Messier during bevconchs in Charleston this past month, and thats when he introduced me to the cocktailandsons Spiced Demerara Syrup. He explained it contained flavors such as baking spices, coriander and peppercorns, combined with 100% Louisiana cane sugar. needless to say, I had to take this bottle home, this was one of two of my creationsâŚ
Horseâs Neck
I donât know about you, but Iâm ready for music festival szn.
Together with my friends at drinkhighwest, I want to share one of three cocktails that High West will be serving at this yearâs High Water Festival (highwaterfest) here in Charleston. This cocktail is light, refreshing and pairs perfectly with great music. Let me know if youâll be out at the festival this year and check out the recipe below while youâre at it!
Please drink responsibly. Cheers yâall.
Charlestowne Swizzle
Easy tiki drinks? Sign me up.
Iâve teamed up with my friends at Watkins1868 to create a local twist on a classic. This cocktail utilizes their new Aromatic Bitters which has delicious hints of vanilla, tart cherries and hibiscus. All flavors that meld perfectly with a funky Jamaican rum and fresh sweet black tea. Check out the recipe below, cheers yâall!
Tiki Old Fashioned Vol.2
Heard it was #NationalRumDayâŚ
If youâre into funky Jamaican rums and Old Fashioneds, this is the recipe for you.
Cabana Swizzle
Always float the rum đš
Rum has had my heart lately and this drink is such a crowd pleaser. Itâs an easy win for that late spring/summer season.
Cheers yâall.
Coffee Tonic
This was introduced to me back in 2015 and it couldnât be simpler.
The coffee tonic was introduced to me by my friend brooksreitz back when I tried jackrudycocktailcoâs tonic syrup for the first time. I thought the herbal, sweet, and bitterness of the their tonic would be little odd with coffee but man was I wrong. I still drink these on occasion and still love the combo with a little lemon twist. The best part is its only two ingredients.
Nitro-Kegged Espresso Martini
If you donât bring a kegged Espresso Martini to a party, are you even a good friend?
If youâve kept up with my stories youâll know that Iâve been experimenting with creating a batched Espresso Martini at home in a nitro keg. This achieves the same foamy head that youâd get from a typical espresso martini except straight from the tap and without all the extra fuss of shaking.
Classic Mai Tai
introvert but willing to discuss Mai Tai specs.
Hereâs my take on a traditional Mai Tai. To me, Wray & Nephew overproof is non-negotiable. It brings that iconic funk that Jamaican rums tend to to lend to tiki cocktails and this one is no exception.
Do you have you own Mai-Tai spec? Whats your take on it?
Cheers yâall.
The Scofflaw
Happy Birthday America! đşđ¸Debuted in 1924, the Scofflaw Cocktail was named after the individuals who clandestinely sipped spirits during Prohibition.
The Crosby
Hereâs another twist on an Amaro cocktail from btparsons book, âAmaroâ named the âTorontoâ â Iâll admit Iâm not the most avid fan of Canadian whiskies, but youâll be surprised what a touch of black walnut bitters, Fernet and demerara will do a cocktail.
The Black Sea
New recipe, who dis?
This might be one of the best original cocktails recipes Iâve made in a while. Itâs perfectly balanced. While the cocktail itself can hold its own, youâll want to make that foam for that extra layer of flavor and texture. Trust me, itâs worth it!
The Sichuan Sour
Who doesnât love a little spice with their sweet and sour?
Lunar New Year is right around the corner (1/22) and together with hinecognacs, weâve developed a recipe to celebrate. For this recipe, Iâm utilizing ingredients typically found in eastern culture such as sesame and five spice, as well as tapping into the Chinese region of Sichuan to bring a bit more of that spiciness to the party. HINEâs VSOP line offers a delicious and balanced experience from start to finish. Youâll get notes of sweet, sour, savory and spiciness in a glass and itâs perfect for any gathering.
Make sure to grab your bottle from reservebarspirits (link in stories).
Cheers and happy year of the rabbit!
Cable Knit
What can I say⌠Day 1 at gardenandgun JUBILEE was a BLAST. There was so much to see, do and not surprisingly; drink! The biggest surprise was the gorgeous @bladeandbowwhiskey horse trailer-turned mobile bar. It was commissioned by Garden and Gun and this was its first visit to explorecharleston! Swipe through to see the trailer or check out the Instagram story to take a peek inside the trailer.
The Bee Cause
You know I love a good collaboration - especially when it involves saving the bees. The savannahbeeco recently partnered up with dixievodka to produce âDixie Wildflower Honey Vodkaâ using SBCâs wildflower honey. Theyâve challenged me to come up with a recipe to incorporate this new product and to celebrate the launch of the new product in Charleston!
.
A portion of the proceeds for each bottle sold will benefit The Bee Cause Project which works to support the health of honeybees in the Southeast by increasing the number of hives in the region and helping to educate the public on their importance. Now get out there and support the cause!

Roses are yellow
As promised... and because you deserve something silky smooth tonight đ Cheers to the weekend!
