The Orange Sweeney
πOrange-you all glad weβre halfway through the week? #dadjokes... Iβve got em.
.
Iβve teamed up with kirkandsweeney to give you my take on a [boozy] childhood favorite (recipe below)! Inspired by the flavor combo of oranges and cream - the 12 year old Kirk and Sweeney rumβs bold notes of caramel and and sweet vanilla is just KILLER in this cocktail. Oh and youβre probably going to want to make more than one π
Irish Coffee Tonic
πWhoβs celebrating #SaintPatricksDay today?
.
Iβm sure most of you are already familiar with that Irish Coffee, but have you ever tried an Irish Tonic?? I was introduced to the coffee/tonic combo by my friends over at jackrudycocktailco not too long ago and was hooked! I figured this recipe would be fit for todayβs festivities. Hope yβall give it a try and let me know what you think!
Panela old Fashioned
The holidays always remind of the fall/winter flavors and spices that go into everything we eat and imbibe during the season. I recently #partnered up with 1792 bourbon to create a custom cocktail that will tie in all these flavors into a simple cocktailβ¦ Can you keep a secret? It has to do with the spiced panela syrup. Infused with flavors that remind me of fall and winter, it ties in well with 1792 Bourbon due to the bourbonβs high-rye content and spice-rich notes, alongside vanilla and caramel. Check out the recipe below and let me know what cocktail reminds you of the holidays! #1792 and #1792Bourbon
To the Stars
πΉ Rose-infused cocktails? Say what? With Valentine's Day around the corner, Iβm excited to #partner with grangala to bring you the perfect cocktail recipe for that date night with your significant other.
If youβre not familiar with #GranGala, itβs a blend of Italian VSOP brandy infused with fresh oranges. I figured this would pair really well with the floral aspect of rosebud tea, zestiness from fresh squeezed lemon and bring it all together with a rich coconut cream. Check out the recipe below or check out the link in the bio!

Blackened Sour
New whiskey/different day - recently had the opportunity to try out blackenedamericanwhiskey - a project by THE MAN, davepickerell (of makersmark and whistlepigwhiskey). Its 56% bourbon, 43% rye and 1% corn, finished in black brandy casks. I figured it would hold up really well in a stiff riff on a spicy NY Sour. Recipe below!
Butterfly Tea and T
πβ¨ It ainβt magic until you drink itβ¦
By now you are already familiar with the magical attributes of the Butterfly Pea Flower. While generally tasteless, the flowers are dried and made into tea. When brewed, turn into a dark blue hue - turns out letting it steep in room temperature gin does the same thing. The cool part about it is that anything acidic turns the liquidβs hue from a deep blue into a bright pink-ish purple.
I had a lot of fun playing around with this one - feel free to get creative and try it for yourself!
The Shaman
Next up on the #NegroniWeek tour of Charleston with our #partners campariusa and imbibe is one of my favorite places in the city... gin_joint!
.
Their Negroni variant called 'The Shaman' figuratively and literally required them to PLAY WITH FIRE π₯and left the bar patrons ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the process. Mixologist james_b0lt used a table-top siphon (typically used for coffee) to heat the Campari enough to siphon into the upper chamber filled with a "Tropical Teapot" of various citrus and spices (ingredients below). The resulting infusion was then mixed with a floral vermouth, barrel aged gin and black lemon bitters, making for not only one of the most unique Negronis we've ever seen or tasted, but an amazing visual experience as well. Needless to say, multiple 'Shaman' Negronis were ordered that night.
.
To top all of this off, the friendly folks at gin_joint are supporting lcfoodbank this week.
Marshmallow World
π₯ Merry Christmas Eve, folks! For our Annual Christmas Party this year, Mick and I came up with the recipe below which was then kegged; needless to say, it was delicious and absolutely demolished by our guests. Hope you enjoy it!
Yule's A Ho Ho!
π π»π Its the holiday season and that means I get to come up with THREE craft cocktail recipes for our Christmas party this weekend! Allow me to introduce the first one, if you like mint-chocolate and Old Fashioned cocktails then this is the recipe for you! PS. Huge thanks to jimbeamofficial for partnering up with me this year!
Apple Wood Smoked Demerara Syrup
Want to take your Old Fashioned to the next level? Why not elevate your traditional sugar cubes to a an applewood smoked demerara simple syrup. Not only does the demerara provide more of a caramel-like flavor than the traditional refined white sugar cubes, the apple wood brings a fruity smokiness to the party. Make this and youβll never use sugar cubes in your Old Fashioned again.
The Bucco Bruce Creamsicle
In honor of #SuperBowlLV - Hereβs a tribute to the buccaneers throwback βCreamscicleβ uniforms. Widely regarded as the ugliest uniforms in the NFL, I LOVED these growing up, as a Bucs fan living in Orlando, FL. So who are we rooting for tonight??
Globetrotterπ
Ok, so Iβll admit I was a big btparsons fan before, but I had the honor of taking his Amaro class at BenConCHS and was completely blown away. Luckily, Charleston, SC was a stop on his βAmaroβ book tour and I had the opportunity to pick his brain (again) at edmundsoast while he was in town. He was knowledgeable, down-to-earth and one of the coolest authors Iβve had the honor of meeting. This cocktail recipe is a from his book βAmaroβ β definitely worth the pickup, even if its not personally signed like my copy π
The Greenpoint
I promised cocktails from katherinebrasserie at the gorgeous kimpton@thecardinalws in Winston-Salem, NC - so hereβs the first! Its a great balance of sweet, herbal and spicy. The Old Overholt Rye plays nicely with the Carpano Antica and Yellow Chartreuse to create a sturdy, complex cocktail.
PiΓ±a Colada Milk Punch
πΉDo you like PiΓ±a Coladas but hate getting caught in the rain?πWell read on below...
.
Sorry I've been a bit MIA lately, I was a little sick but finally feeling well enough to do some experimenting today after reading a couple articles on punch_drink.
.
Let me introduce you to a Clarified Milk Punch, the scalded milk coagulates with the citric acid in the cocktail and strained through a fine sieve to produce the clearest cocktail you've ever seen. Believe it or not, there's actually an ice cube in this viskistyle rocks glass ππ₯π
Rabbit out of the Hat
It's the most wonderful time of the year! Don't forget that #NegroniWeek starts tomorrow and runs through June 11 β you can find a list of participating Charleston bars via the link below and see who theyβre donating to for the week. Oh and just FYI, the @lcfoodbank is one of @imbibe Magazine's official charity partners this year, so it only do you get some great cocktails this week, they also happen to go to a good causes. Cheers! ππ₯
