Barrel - Aged Banana Boulevardier
slaps barrel* this baby has 30-40 cocktails in it and it gets better over time.
Iāve been meaning to do a barrel aged cocktail recipe for a while on here. There are so many benefits to barrel aging your cocktails instead of just batching (video coming soon!). But the true appeal is the mellowness that the oak brings to the [cocktail party]. Feel free to experiment with some of your favorite stirred cocktails but make sure not to use anything with citrus.
I kept this video pretty simple and didnāt use exact measurements, I figure using the actual bottles itself (full bottles + half bottles) would be more approachable and actually get yāall to do this at home. This recipe only fills up 3.6L of this 5L barrel so feel free to scale up to fill to the brim. Remember that smaller barrels have more surface area than the tradition 55 gallon barrels so this will age at a much faster rate (2-3 weeks should suffice), anything more than 2-3 months [if it lasts that long], should be transferred to a glass bottle.
If youāre looking for a barrel, check out the link on my bio site under ābar toolsā.
Cheers and happy barrel aging!

Scotman Sidecar
Did you hear? Its #WorldCocktailDay!
.
I had an opportunity to receive a bottle of a unique California Brandy by jeffreymbell (pdthongkong)and thomaspastuszak (thenomadhotel) - two very well known names in the cocktail/wine/spirits industry. Bertoux Brandy (bertouxbrandy) is meant to be as sippable as it is perfect for any cocktail - So I figured, why not try a riff on a classic Brandy cocktail - The Sidecar!
Remember the Alimony
Introducing a new series every week: Handcraft After Dark.
In this series, Iāll be creating some of my favorite night caps and maybe even some recipes that YOU recommend. Hereās the catch: they always have to be stirred and must contain 4 or less ingredients (not including the garnish).
This video series will be no-frills, quick, easy, and straightforward recipes that you can make in less than 5 minutes. You in? Have a favorite recipe that fits the description above? Let me know in the comments section.
This recipe was created by Dan Greenbaum in 2012 at the now-closed New York City cocktail bar The Beagle. Thanks to robertsimonson for including it in his book which introduced me to this recipe.
Cheers and goodnight.
The Black Hole
Iāll be traveling to Jalisco, Mexico to visit the renowned Patròn Hacienda and Distillery tomorrow!
.
I hope you follow along as I tour the grounds, distillery and show you how this tequila is literally brought from farm to table. To top it all off, Iāll be there to show yāall who is crowned the winner of this yearās #MOTY!
.
Anyways, while youāre waiting for all of that action, feel free to make a recipe Iāve been working on using Patrònās Extra Anejo Tequila and let me know what you think!
The Holy Ancho MolƩ
A balanced blend of rich flavors that elevate every dish. Perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to your culinary creations.
Mad Max's Last Word
Experience the fierce yet smooth taste of Mad Max's Last Word with a base of Vodka. A bold blend of flavors that will transport you to a post-apocalyptic world of flavor. Unleash your inner warrior with every sip.
The Countdown
Putting my #Bottesi ice mallet and Lewis bag from my friends at queencitycocktails to good use on this fine Tuesday night and playing around with some potential cocktail recipes.
Pomme Brulee Old Fashioned
Itās about time we brĆ»lĆ©e some apples for an Old Fashioned.
We created an Old Fashioned thats sure to please this season. Flavors of cinnamon, caramelized sugar and apples play together perfectly with Rabbit Holeās Dareringer bourbon, which is finished with PX sherry casks and has notes of oak, dried fruit and caramel.
This is one you need to make.
Cheers yāall!
Cacao Black Manhattan
Simple Math: š«+ š„ = ā¤ļø
-
It feels to get back to playing around with some basic cocktails but also playing around with some new video styles. Iām going to start to make a new Reel series and Iām trying to land on the format, would love to hear yāalls thoughts on this style (look/feel, music, voiceover, titles, etc). Let me know what else youād want to see.
Coconut Rested Rum Negroni
š„ ā”ļø š„„
Today weāre resting a Negroni in a coconut⦠but not just any Negroni, this is a split-base rum Negroni using a Barbados rum ( + Jamaican rum ) to give us a funky but rounded flavor. If youāve never had either of those rums, youāll really want to get your hands on a bottle or sample to try. Itās unlike anything youāve ever had and really puts this recipe together by bringing those tropical notes of coconut, banana and pineapple INSIDE a coconut š¤Æ
Stay tuned for Part II coming in a few days!
The Laddie Rob Roy
ā¦and a partridge in a pear tree.
Happy holiday season yāall. Together with my friends at bruichladdich Iāve created a take on the classic Rob Roy. This takes The Classic Laddie, an unpeated scotch whisky, and combines it with the flavors of spiced pear and walnut to create a cocktail that is easy, delicious, and beautiful. Anyone can make this recipe, so make sure to give the gift of The Classic Laddie this holiday season by heading to the link in my bio!
The Bloody Amber Road
Unveil the rich and robust flavor of our Bloody Amber Road. A tantalizing blend that exceeds expectations, leaving a lasting impression with every sip. Indulge in the essence of expert craftsmanship and pure sophistication. Cheers to unparalleled quality.
The Disco Sour
Ok, show me a mood ring but make it a cocktailā¦ šŗš½šŖ©
First a little back story here: Let me introduce you to The Disco Sour, created in 2015 by my talented friend Megan Deschaine for a restaurant called 492 here in Charleston, SC. I remember walking up to the bar at this restaurant after work (my office was 4 buildings down). By the way, this all happened before my days of developing recipes and photographing them and here was this amazingly friendly bartender asking me what I wanted to drink. I asked what she suggested and she put this drink in front of me and I was immediately blown. It was her signature cocktail, way before the days butterfly pea flower went mainstream (this was 2015 folks!), the drink was served in a carafe and poured table side so you could watch the drink transform from white, to blue to pink.
Cheers yāall!
The Rock Hopper
An espresso martini crossed with a mint chocolate Irish coffee? Sure, I got you
āTis the season after all, Iāve come up with the perfect recipe to go along with this bottle of Glendalough Double Barrel Irish Whiskey. This single grain, Irish whiskey is first aged in oak then finished in Oloroso sherry casks.
Elder Lavender Sour
Letās get back to itā¦
Together with empress1908gin, weāve created a refreshing and airy sour with flavors of elderflower and lavender. Cheers yāall!
The Elderflower Gimlet
I guess it's been a while since I posted one of these but here it is:
Frozen Honey Painkiller
Who needs fireworks anyway? š„
Happy #FourthOfJuly friends! Got a confession - frozen tiki drinks are a guilty pleasure of mine, but who doesnāt love them, amirite? This one is a little more involved but I promise itās well worth it. The recipe below is for 2 servings, but feel free to scale up at your leisure :)
This one combines 3 types of rum with some pineapple and coconut with a little cinnamon fire for dramatic effect⦠oh and itās definitely not a regular Painkiller⢠;)
Cheers yāall!
Alive and Well (Long Song)
A light take on the classic for #NegroniWeek š„
āA lighter rendition of the classic, the Alive and Well is more of an āorangeā Negroni. aromatic, floral, herbaceous, and slightly fruity backed with Campariās signature bitterness; itās a fun, late-summer sipper.ā
Cheers yāall!
